Carly Davenport - Certified Athletic Therapist at Gulf Island Physio

Carly Davenport

Certified Athletic Therapist, BAET, CAT(C), CSCS

Salt Spring Island has always been home for Carly, and after six years of clinical practice in Kamloops, she’s thrilled to be back serving the community she grew up in.

Carly’s path to athletic therapy started on the field. Growing up, she played volleyball, basketball, and, above all, fastball, and has more recently discovered a love for playing rugby. As an athlete on a small island, she learned firsthand how hard it can be to find the right care when injuries happen, and she was always the first to run over when a teammate went down. Athletic therapy was a natural fit: a way to help people get back to what they love while staying connected to the sports that shaped her.

She graduated from Camosun College in 2019 with a Bachelor of Athletic and Exercise Therapy and became a Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist that same year. As a Certified Athletic Therapist, she specializes in the assessment, treatment, and rehabilitation of injuries to muscles, bones, ligaments, and joints. Athletic therapy isn’t just for athletes: Carly works with people of all ages and activity levels, whether they’re recovering from a sports injury, managing a nagging ache from everyday life, healing after surgery, or simply wanting to move and feel better.

Her experience spans a wide range of sport, including Rugby Canada, BC Rugby, James Bay Athletic Association (JBAA) rugby, Kamloops Rugby, the Kamloops Broncos football club, the Merritt Centennials Junior Hockey, the Thompson Blazers AAA hockey, and the Cariboo Cougars minor hockey.

Clients describe Carly as friendly and easy to talk to, and many say she creates a safe space where they feel comfortable and heard. She brings genuine empathy to every session, knowing that injury can be frustrating and discouraging, and takes the time to listen and understand each person’s goals. Her approach is active and client-centred: rather than relying on hands-on treatment alone, she focuses on movement-based rehabilitation that builds strength, confidence, and independence. Working collaboratively with each client, she gives them the tools to manage their own recovery, so they leave not just feeling better but understanding how to stay that way.
