Helping children move, grow, and thrive through every stage of development.

Paediatric Physiotherapy at Gulf Island Physiotherapy

What is Paediatric Physiotherapy?

Paediatric physiotherapy focuses on assessing and treating movement, strength, balance, coordination, and physical development in babies, children, and adolescents.

At Gulf Island Physiotherapy, we know that every child develops at their own pace. Our paediatric physiotherapy services are designed to support infants, children, and teens with compassionate, individualized care that helps build confidence, strength, coordination, and independence.

Led by our paediatric physiotherapist Nikki, sessions are tailored to your child’s unique needs in a welcoming and supportive environment where kids feel comfortable, encouraged, and empowered.

WHO IS IT FOR?

Paediatric physiotherapy supports infants, children, and adolescents who may be experiencing challenges with movement, physical development, strength, coordination, or pain. Whether you have concerns about your child's developmental milestones, posture, walking pattern, or recovery from an injury, physiotherapy can help assess their needs and provide individualized treatment and guidance.

Paediatric physiotherapy may be beneficial for children experiencing:

  • Infant and toddler motor milestone delays or concerns

  • Infant head shape concerns and torticollis

  • Physical and developmental disabilities

  • Growth-related conditions and pain

  • Alignment and gait concerns, including

  • Orthopedic conditions and sports injuries

Every child is unique. If you're unsure whether physiotherapy is right for your child, we'd be happy to discuss your concerns and determine how we can help.

WHAT TO EXPECT

Your child's initial appointment will include a comprehensive assessment, discussion of your concerns and goals, and the development of an individualized treatment plan.

Treatment may involve:

  • Play-based movement activities

  • Strength and coordination exercises

  • Mobility and flexibility work

  • Motor skill development

  • Parent and caregiver education

  • Home exercises and activity recommendations

Our goal is to make physiotherapy engaging, supportive, and fun while helping children develop the skills and confidence they need to move well.
